China: Solar and Biomass to Generate Power in Tandem
The New York Times’ Green Inc. blog reports today that China will be using technology from, eSolar, a California company to construct solar and biomass plants that will share turbines and other infrastructure. Bill Gross, eSolar’s chairman explains that the goal is to reduce the projects’ cost and allow around-the-clock electricity production.
A local shrub grown in the surrounding region to fight desertification, called the sand willow, will supply fuel for the biomass power plants, according to Penglai Electric.
